A clinical program, with a familiar daily rhythm
Our early-intervention autism program is designed as a structured day program for children ages 2 to 6, with full-day and half-day options. Program options vary, so ask us what’s available for your family.
This program is distinct from general childcare. Enrollment depends on a clinical assessment, an individualized treatment plan, program fit and any payer requirements.
-
A clinical day with room for play
Predictable routines. Individualized support. Time to practice with peers. A warm daily rhythm within a clinical treatment program.
-
Ask about your plan before care begins
Participation varies by service, provider and plan.
Ask about BCBA oversight, RBT-delivered support and access to appropriately licensed speech and occupational therapy clinicians. A PsyD clinician may support diagnostic questions. Confirm team credentials and availability before enrollment.
Planning support together
-
Individualized support and child assent
Ask how your child’s interests, communication and sensory preferences guide activities. Plans should make room for choices, breaks and changes when a child signals discomfort. Toileting and self-care support should be collaborative, dignified and developmentally appropriate, with caregiver consent and individualized pacing.
-
From a clinical day to home and school
Ask how parent coaching could connect everyday routines with communication, speech, sensory and ABA goals. With your permission, the team may help organize information for Maryland IEP conversations and kindergarten transition planning. Confirm coordination options; educational eligibility and placement remain school-team decisions.
Questions before you begin
Ask intake about your child’s needs, documentation and the next available step.
Is this daycare or clinical treatment?
The early-intervention autism program is a clinical treatment program for children ages two through six. It is distinct from general childcare. Ask about clinical eligibility, treatment planning and program options before deciding whether it fits your family’s needs.
Does enrollment require a diagnosis or referral?
Ask intake which diagnostic records, referrals or medical orders are required for your child’s services and insurance plan. An autism diagnosis may be needed for some treatment authorizations, but contacting intake can begin with questions. The practice reviews clinical fit and documentation before confirming enrollment, available supports or a start date.
Will insurance cover the full clinical day?
Coverage must be checked for each service, provider and plan. A program schedule is not an insurance benefit or a promise that every activity is covered. Ask about prior authorization, approved hours, therapy billing, exclusions and expected family costs. Obtain a clear explanation before agreeing to a treatment schedule or enrollment.
What are the wait time and enrollment steps?
Ask intake about age eligibility, clinical review and any waitlist. The practice should explain which assessments and records are needed and when authorizations are checked. Confirm the actual schedule and start arrangements directly before making childcare changes.
What support would my child receive during the day?
Support should follow an individualized assessment and treatment plan. Ask how assent, breaks, communication, sensory preferences and toileting dignity shape daily activities, and which licensed therapy services would actually be available.
How would parents receive updates and prepare for school?
Ask how caregivers would receive meaningful information, raise concerns and participate in coaching. With permission, clinicians may help organize transition information for a Maryland IEP discussion. Confirm school coordination options and remember that schools determine educational services and placement.
