Care for Baltimore City families

Baltimore City has more mental health clinicians per resident than the state average (County Health Rankings 2025), yet the city’s hospital needs assessment ranked mental health among its top three priorities and nearly half of community leaders said there still aren’t enough providers. In 2022, 40.6% of city high school students said they had felt sad or hopeless for weeks at a time, compared with 36% statewide.

From Fells Point and nearby neighborhoods, our Bethesda office is about 39–46 miles (53–65 minutes in light traffic). Therapy and psychiatric visits, including evaluations, can also be done by telehealth.

Early childhood services and local needs

For children under 3, the Baltimore City Infants & Toddlers Program takes referrals at 410-396-1666. For ages 3 and up, call Baltimore City Public Schools Child Find at 443-984-1011.

Even so, finding the right fit and an opening can still take time.

Driving to Bethesda from the city

From downtown, take I-95 south to the Capital Beltway (I-495) west. Our Bethesda office is roughly 55 minutes away without traffic. Weekday rush hours are slower, so evenings and Saturdays are often easier.

Most Baltimore clients choose telehealth for regular sessions and save the drive for occasional in-person visits, if they make it at all.

  • Downtown Baltimore to our Bethesda office: about 39 miles, roughly 55 minutes without traffic, by I-95 and I-495.

Distances and times are estimates for normal driving conditions. Traffic, weather and bridge delays can add time.
